3 ways to use essential oils without a diffuser

With endless benefits to essential oils, we love looking for new ways to add them into our daily lives. Here, we’re sharing three of our favourite ways to use essential oils in our day-to-day life.

 In The Bath

For a luxurious and relaxing experience, add a few drops of your favourite essential oil/s into a warm bath. Lavender helps to de-stress and ease anxiety, while Rosemary is refreshing and grounding. It's also fun to play around with your own custom essential oil blends, mixing two or three for a deeply relaxing experience. We love Frankincense (on its own it's great for deep relaxation and stress relief) but blends very well with Lemon,  Lavender, Myrrh, Sandalwood and Pine.

We also recommend adding epsom salt to your bath to help ease sore muscles... a glass of wine is also a welcome addition!

Facial Steam

You’ve probably heard that people have been known to sneak essential oils into the steam room, and there’s a reason for it. Steaming comes with a host of benefits, including detoxifying the skin (by opening the pores), increasing skin’s radiance and helping to make your daily skincare products more effective. By adding essential oils fit for your skin type to the properties of steaming, you can elevate this spa-like experience.

Use a bowl of steaming hot water (3 – 5 cups) and add up to 3 drops of your favourite essential oil. Steam for 5 – 10 minutes, with your face hovering over the bowl and a towel draped over your head to protect the steam from outside air. Remember if at any point you feel it’s too hot, pull away.

We recommend tea tree for those with acne, rose for those with dry skin, lemon for oily skin, and chamomile or lavender for those with sensitive skin.

As a Natural Cleaner

Some essential oils have incredibly powerful antibacterial and cleaning properties. Lemongrassis one of these… besides its energising and refreshing scent, it also acts an effective deodoriser and has strong antibacterial and antimicrobial powers.

Add a few dropsto 1 cup of water and ½ cup of white vinegar and combine in a spray bottle. It can be used as an all-natural, all-purpose cleaner around the house.

Do you have any other diffuser-free uses to add to our list? What are your favourite essential oils?
