How to combat dry, dehydrated winter skin

Winter has well and truly arrived in Australia! Did you know that your skin is influenced by the environment and during winter, our skin is exposed to changing elements like cold winds, drops in temperature, heating, and low humidity, which can affect the texture of the skin, increasing dehydration, redness, and irritation. At this time of the season, it’s important to keep your epidermal skin barrier protected and nourished.

What is the epidermal barrier and why is it so important?

The epidermal barrier is made up of many different functions and can be easily disturbed from both internal and external elements, so it’s important to keep it well-nourished and hydrated 24/7, but, particularly in winter.

If your skin is looking dry, flaky or irritated and feeling tight, dehydrated, thirsty or rough, it’s time to combat these signs and provide your skin with some TLC from Biologi.

Here's our top Biologi winter skin saviour help guide

One of our all-time favourite serums from Biologi is the Bf Restore Face and Body Serum. It’s THE best friend for your skin with Biologi selling one every 15 minutes around the globe!

This skin saviour helps to lock in extra hydration, aids in reducing redness and irritation and can be used on the face and the body, which makes it a great multi-use serum too.

We recommend choosing Bm Regenerate Anti-Ageing Serum when you want to provide nourishment and vital antioxidant protection to your skin if you have preventative ageing concerns and, finally, if your post summer skin needs some brightening, we recommend the BQK Radiance Duo Serums. This morning and night combo works synergistically to assist with brightening your skin.

Next, give your devitalised winter skin a boost and extra nourishment by incorporating a face oil into the mix. Biologi’s Br Organic Rosehip Oil is key in helping to further nourish and protect your skin against the elements and contains skin loving Alpha-Linoleic Acids that are rich in fatty acids, Vitamin A (in its natural form) and Vitamin E that work together to increase skin protection, strength and rejuvenation. Use on its own or over a Biologi serum as required.

Finally, introducing a mask once to twice a week will help to provide integral hydration and barrier support for your skin. Biologi have launched their newest products in the form of bio cellulose sheet masks. Their masks are made from superior and fully compostable coconut fibres and its these fibres that provide a quality strong and pliable mask that has exceptional hydration qualities to retain and give moisture to the skin.

Along with the super hydration qualities of the mask, Biologi have added unique plant extracts resulting in a choice of 3 masks that are hydrating and targeted for a range of skin goals.

For winter skin, you can’t go past the Hydra Calm Bio Cellulose Mask. Designed to calm sensitised and stressed skin conditions, Biologi have chosen Snowflower Leaf Extract as the hero extract in this mask, due to its soothing combination of flavonoids and phenolic acids, that provide the skin with exceptional soothing and calming properties to hydrate and encourage healthy skin function.

Or, if breakouts are more your concern, choose from the Hydra Balance Bio Cellulose Mask to help reduce redness and excess oil flow whilst maintaining hydration and if pro ageing is your goal, we highly recommend the Hydra Boost Bio Cellulose Mask. This mask contains a powerful combination of phyto-actives that work in synergy to protect collagen and elastin to give a more youthful appearance, whilst strengthening and conditioning the skin.

Biologi have sustainability on their mind with every new product development and their sheet masks are no exception. With a committed focus on sustainability, Biologi's complete range of Bio Cellulose Face Masks is ethically created and presented in recyclable boxes and recyclable soft plastic pouches.

Lastly, our final winter skin tip includes applying sunscreen. Remember, just because it's cold outside, UV rays are always around, even on a cloudy day.
