How to clean your clothes and your house naturally

September 08, 2017 2 min read

We love seeing the trend towards more natural alternatives in skincare, cosmetics, baby care and pet care. More and more companies are choosing natural ingredients in their formulations, and this includes supermarket brands. However it doesn’t seem to be happening in the laundry and cleaning section of the supermarket. The trend in this category is the addition of even more harsh chemicals that companies think are needed to get results – enzymes, bio-enzymes, optical brighteners, etc.

So what products do we recommend?

For the laundry, the Bondi Wash Laundry Wash and Delicate Wash are both sourced 100% from plants. Both can be used for machine or hand washing, for front or top loaders.  The Delicate Wash is designed for natural fibres like silk and wool that require a lower ph. The Laundry Wash is for everyday washing.

There's also the divine range of laundry products by The Laundress, made by two New York friends from the fashion industry. The smell of the Baby Detergent has us all hooked and we use it for all our washing now.

For cleaning the toilet, we recommend using The Laundress All Purpose Cleaning Concentrate. We mix a little product in with hot water, then using a cloth wipe around the toilet and finish off by pouring the water into the toilet and giving the bowl a good scrub with the brush. Toxin-free and packed with active ingredients, a little of this product goes a long way! It has a fresh scent which blends eucalyptus with notes of pine and hints of rose, lily of the valley, bergamot, and thyme. You may also notice hints of musk and lavender.

For the floors, we love using the Bondi Wash Floor Cleaner. Use your favourite mop and go nuts cleaning any surface without fear. With three different Australian inspired scents your house will be smelling divine in no time.

Next time we'll take a look at our favourite products for cleaning the kitchen and windows, so stay tuned.
