As you know, I'm expecting my first child - super exciting! The only thing more exciting is that Celeste is also pregnant, so we get to share this amazing (and draining) experience together. Celeste has been helping me out with lots of awesome pregnancy product recommendations from our shop so I thought I'd profile some of the winners.
Body oil to minimise stretch marks
One of the first products that I wanted to try out was the ECO. modern essentials Prenatal Massage & Body Oil which combines a rich blend of nut oils to nourish dry skin, alongside tangerine essential oil to rejuvenate and reduce stretch marks. Geranium is included in the formulation to help calm and soothe the tired muscles associated with the many changes in the body that pregnancy can bring.
I've heard that some super-loved up couples use this oil at night, as a way for the partner to bond with the expanding tummy and the bub that lies beneath. However, in our household I just put in on myself (!) and it feels so luxurious - not oily at all, just soft and easily absorbed into the skin.
Oh and the other thing I wanted to say about this product - it's for your belly but seriously, for any other mumma's out there - you'll know what I'm talking about when I say that my whole body feels like it's stretching and growing (!) so I'm lathering it on everywhere, like my butt and thighs. Why not huh!?
I'll report back post-birth for the product review :)
Itchy dry nipples
Say what now!? I haven't even hit the six month mark yet and my nipples are already itchy and dry. The other night I was rubbing them a little and STUFF STARTED COMING OUT! Like actual watery milk stuff. I've got to admit that I was ridiculously excited. My husband not so much...! So the first thing I did was report this discovery to Celeste and she immediately recommended using the luxuriously creamy Lanolips 101 Ointment Multipurpose Balm which has multiple uses, such as hydrating extremely chapped lips, dry cuticles, dry, itchy skin, dry nasal passages, nursing nipples and more. It is suitable for even the most sensitive skin; so pure that it can be used on the mouths of newborn babies.
So now, each night when my nipples feel like they need some love, or I just desperately need to stop the itching, I put a small amount of this balm onto them and it's instantly healing. I can only but imagine how my boobs are going to be when I start (fingers crossed) breastfeeding.
I was pleased to read that being extra sweaty during pregnancy is a normal condition for some women. Given that I'm generally a sweaty person anyway this hasn't surprised me but I've really had to up my deodorant game these past few months. Luckily, I've found an all natural product that works. Mukti's new Botanique Deodorant Spray neutralises body odour and eliminates bacteria, allowing the underarm skin to release toxins without absorbing harmful chemicals. Given that it's a spray, it's also really handy to have in my bag if I'm rushing in between full-on meetings.
