5 easy ways to reduce waste

March 28, 2018 2 min read

ABC's War on Waste has been amazing for showing us all just how much damage disposable items like coffee cups are causing our environment. The good news is, there's never been a better time to find stylish plastic-free or low-tox reusable products, to replace single use plastic.

We've put together this guide to show you 5 easy products you can switch to, which will make your life easier and lift the burden of guilt from your shoulders.

1. Reusable coffee cup: we stock both Frank Green and JOCO reusable cups, so we can all cut down on the millions of takeaway cups that go to landfill each year - and that's just in Australia.

2. Reusable water bottle: Frank Green and memobottle both make stylish, practical and affordable water bottles, which mean you can have your H2O on hand at all times to avoid the need to buy a throw-away plastic bottle.

HINT: memobottles are great for travelling, as the flat shape fits into aeroplane pockets.

3. Metal straws: plastic straws end up in the ocean and harm our marine friends - which is something we all want to avoid! We stock metal straws from Clean Coast Collective and Ever Eco to ensure we can all avoid using plastic straws - best of all, both brands offer 'on-the-go' packs, with a pouch to store your straws in your bag.

4. Reusable zip-lock bag replacement: we love Stasher bags at Natural Supply Co - they are the perfect size for a sandwich, cut up veggies or nuts to carry as an on-the-go snack, or to store your little ones' medical pack in your nappy bag. We've stopped using SO many throw-away ziplock bags as a result - which feels really good.

5. Reusable produce bags: these lightweight mesh bags from Ever Eco are fab. Keep the in your reusable shopping bags in your car, so you have them ready for your shop at all times; then just pop your fruit and veg straight into them while you shop. You can then transfer them straight to the fridge, and best of all? They help your produce to stay fresh for longer - so you'll save money as well.

Looking to make more changes? We also stock bamboo travel cutlery so you can say goodbye to plastic when you're eating on the run, and we offer a fab range of tote bags to lug all that shopping around in!
